Edward
A talented artist without direction, Edward finds
himself trying unsuccessfully to make a living drawing rude cartoons
for cheap pornographic magazines. His self-defeating, slacker mandate
is not helping him out of the rut he is currently stuck in. Edward
is the "everyman" character in the piece. He is the frustrating
little brother that has so much potential, but can never seem to
get it together.
Brian
If Edward is the little brother, then Brian is the put-together
older sibling, the anal retentive, intellectual over achiever. He
maintains order in the bizarre household that Edward has stumbled
into. Arrogant and often icy cool, Brian offers his expert guidance
to our lost and confused Edward.
Nick
Overflowing with testosterone, Nick is ultimate guy's guy. A chain
smoking, bourbon guzzling sports fanatic. Seemingly laid back, but
really a time bomb simmering under the surface. Nick is in full
control of his powers of intimidation and works to keep his roommates
and Edward in a constant state of trepidation.
Anna
The only woman in the household, Anna keeps to herself, a borderline
agoraphobic. She is a fragile flower, but overflows with an amazing
artistic gift, which even she cannot grasp full measure of. The
arrival of Edward opens her eyes to the true nature of her isolation,
which then gives birth to resentment and an anger that threatens
to consume her.
Edward's Mother
Frustrated with her marriage, but loving towards her son, she is
the original artist that inspired the pursuit in Edward. A free
spirit that has found herself trapped in a life she never actually
wanted.
Edward's Father
Weathered and sober, he looks older than his years. In love with
his wife so deeply and so frightened of losing her, that he is blind
to her sadness.
Young Edward
A quiet boy who wears emotions on his sleeve. In Young Edward we
see the early effects of baring witness to all his parent's trials
and struggles.
