Blow Me A Kiss.  A bittersweet story about memory and connection. Danced to the music of The Lovebullies, this 3 minute film revolves around a burlesque dancer, Mnemosyne who fulfills the intimate dreams of many in the cabaret.  In particular, three patrons, each wrestling with their own demons, are taken back to a time in their life that was significant and transforming for them.

Written, directed and produced by Corey Lee and Sandi Somers.  Beautifully shot by Jarrett Craig.  Made possible by a grant from Bravo!FACT.  Coming soon.

Corey Lee’s 2008 short film, “In Translation”, the final entry in his Kilter Trilogy, is now screening online as part of the NSI’s year-round online short film festival featuring 100% Canadian short film.

Previously, “In Translation” won the 2008 Edmonton International Film Festival’s Best of Alberta Short Film Award, the Grand Prize at 2009 MING Short Film Festival, Best Original Dramatic Score at the 2009 Alberta Film & Television Awards, as well as screening at a variety of festivals, including the 2008 Whistler Film Festival and the 2008 Calgary International Film Festival, as a finalist for the Best of Alberta.

“In Translation” was produced with a Bravo!FACT grant, supported by Bravo! NewStyleArtsChannel, and also made possible by the generous support of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.  Click here to check it out.

Corey Lee and Micheal Welchman’s short film, Armour for a Boy, is screening at the upcoming Melbourne International Animation Festival, running June 19th to 26th.

MIAF 2011 hits the screen with eight days of the best new animation combined with a diverse collection of themed, retrospective and special programs. Held at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, MIAF introduces audiences to a comprehensive line-up from award winners, outstanding industry veterans, inspiring independents, stupendous studios and those wonderful newcomers exploring their talent on screen for the very first time.

The feature documentary, Warrior Legend, is now in production.  The film examines my challenging relationship with my father, renowned martial arts expert, coach and promoter, Frank Lee, as I endeavor to better understand the man, the choices heʼs made, and connect us after two decades of limited contact.  I delve into my father’s life long work in the martial arts through a hybrid of animation, archival footage and stills, but mainly through the capture of my own return to the martial arts and training with my father nearly 25 years after stepping away.  The goal: that I might seek to reveal the secret identity behind his larger than life persona, to inform him as to the man I have become and to build a bridge for myself and my sons to carry on, even some small part, of his culture and legacy after he is gone.

Warrior Legend is produced by Corkscrew Films, in conjunction with the National Film Board and enriquePoe Moving Pictures.  The project continues principal photography  until June and is scheduled for release in 2012.
