LEGEND OF A WARRIOR had a fabulous premiere at the 2012 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.  A very positive response to the film overall, including some strong reviews and great interaction with the audience at Q & A sessions following all three screenings.  Sincere thanks to Director of Programming – Charlotte Cook, Senior Canadian Programmer – Lynne Fernie, Canadian Programmer – Alex Rogalski and Executive Director – Chris McDonald, as well as the entire Hot Docs staff.  Such a pleasure to be a part of their program this year.  Hot Docs is truly a standout amongst film festivals.

Arirang Korea TV: Who’s Hot: Legend of a Warrior – Video.

Finalists for the 38th Annual Alberta Film & Television Awards, celebrating excellence and outstanding achievement in Alberta film, television and new media, were announced today.  The experimental short drama, AWAKEN, from enriquePoe Moving Pictures and Spring Street Films has been nominated for Best Director – Corey Lee and Sandi Somers in the category Drama Under 30 Minutes, as well as Best Actress – Pattie Dwyer, for her work in the film.

AWAKEN was written, directed, edited and produced by Corey Lee and Sandi Somers and made possible by the support of an extremely talented Alberta cast and crew, as well as, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Six Degrees and Jump Studios.

Corey Lee was also nominated, as part of a team, for his directing work in the category Non-Fiction Under 30 Minutes, for the Corkscrew Media documentary series, Pet Heroes.

The 2012 Alberta Film & Television Awards will be presented on Saturday, May 12th 2012 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Calgary.

enriquePoe Moving Pictures is proud to announce the World Premiere of Corey Lee’s documentary feature, Legend of a Warrior, at the 2012 edition of Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, held April 26 – May 6 in Toronto, Canada.  From 2,085 submissions, this year’s slate will present 189 titles from 51 different countries.

Legend of a Warrior follows Corey Lee’s efforts to reconnect with his father, martial arts legend Frank Lee. For his many students and fans, Frank is martial arts—a high-kicking dynamo whose style of full contact fighting has propelled him into the upper echelons of his profession.  Frank is happy to play the role he’s cultivated, but his son, filmmaker Corey Lee, wants to look beneath the superhero mask.  To do this Corey must enter Frank’s world, a world where fighting rules.  The film is Produced by Susan Bristow for Corkscrew Media, Bonnie Thompson for the National Film Board of Canada and Corey Lee for enriquePoe Moving Pictures.

Legend of a Warrior screens Monday April 30th @ 9:15 PM at the Cumberland 2 Theatre, 159 Cumberland Street and again on Thursday May 3rd @ 1:30 at the ROM Theatre, 100 Queen’s Park, and finally on Friday May 4th @ 4:00 PM at the Isabel Bader Theatre, 93 Charles Street West. Blow Me A Kiss.  A bittersweet story about memory and connection. Danced to the music of The Lovebullies, this 3 minute film revolves around a burlesque dancer, Mnemosyne who fulfills the intimate dreams of many in the cabaret.  In particular, three patrons, each wrestling with their own demons, are taken back to a time in their life that was significant and transforming for them.

Written, directed and produced by Corey Lee and Sandi Somers.  Beautifully shot by Jarrett Craig.  Made possible by a grant from Bravo!FACT.  Coming soon.
